Ingredients

Great Northern Beans, Seasoning Packet Ingredients: Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Maltodextrin, Salt, Artificial Flavorings (including Artificial Smoke Flavor), Silicon Dioxide (added Less Than 2% As An Anti-caking Agent).

Prep

2-1/2 cups beans, 1 cup diced onion, 6 to 8 cups water, 1/8 teaspoon pepper (optional), contents of ham flavoring packet, salt to taste. Edible dry beans are a raw agricultural product and come up to us from the farmer. Although we carefully clean these beans, stones and debris may be present. Please rinse beans and remove debris before using. Cover beans with two inches of water. Bring to a rapid boil. Remove from heat and let stand for one hour. Add onion and pepper and resume cooking in same water for one hour keeping beans covered with water as needed. Add contents of ham flavor packet during latter part of cooking period. Do not add salt until beans are nearly done to avoid longer cooking time. Beans are done when desired tenderness is reached.
