Sutter Home Merlot Wine is lush and velvety with rich fruity flavors. Ripe black cherry aromas with hints of tobacco and herbal spice lead to smoky black cherry and spiced plum flavors on the palate with a plush, lingering finish. This medium-bodied, silky smooth wine has received many awards including Gold in the 2017 Monterey Wine Competition and 2019 San Diego International. It received Double Gold at the 2019 San Francisco International, 2018 Indy International and the 2019 Sunset International, where it also received 94 Points and Best of Class. This dry red wine pairs well with herb-roasted chicken, spaghetti Bolognese and mushroom risotto. The wine making process starts with grapes from premier vineyards in cool coastal regions and warmer inland regions of California. This dry wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures followed by brief aging in American oak tanks.
